DJ Jonniboi is a seasoned DJ with 11 years of experience starting in 2015. He started out playing in clubs across S'pore, notably gracing the decks of Zouk, Ce La Vi, Altimate and Butter Factory amongst others.
On a Wed evening in 2017 while helming the decks in Zouk for a private event for Sasa, he realised events DJing actually brought him closer to the crowd, and he could visibly & directly feel the impact of his work on the crowd more than in the clubs, launching his love for events DJing ever since
Thereafter, DJ Jonniboi has played at hundreds of weddings, anniversaries, celebrations, corporate events/D&Ds, and private parties, gracing the ballrooms, event spaces, function halls, clubhouses and yachts/ships of crowds from 20 to 600. How To Choose A DJ
Looking for a DJ but not sure how to choose one? Below are some tips:
Tip 1 — Never pick a DJ solely on how well he 'mixes'
Unless u are only looking at the DJ to play an afterparty or dancefloor the whole time. Otherwise, most events like weddings and corporate events require the DJ to be able to pick and choose the right tracks and right segments of tracks with speed to support the entire program flow and hype up the event instead. Minimal, if not zero mixing is actually involved here. But if you are looking for a DJ for afterparty or dancefloor, be sure to ask for and check out his mixes and Mixcloud etc.
Tip 2 — Experience Really Matters
Event DJing is very different from club DJing and requires many years of real-world experience just to get to a decent level. One cannot be a bedroom DJ for years and expect to know how to DJ for an event suddenly. Whereas one can mix well at home for a long time and apply the same mixing abilities to a club. An experienced events DJ is expected manage the entire audio throughout the event — from background music, av equipment management, emcee support, last-minute program changes, sound effects, to dancefloor and impromptu requests. Always choose a DJ experienced in your specific type of event.
Tip 3 — Don’t Choose Based on Price Alone
Lower prices do not always mean better value. Many hobby or bedroom DJs who command lower fees may have limited real-event experience. The best DJ is someone with proven experience in your type of event, a strong track record, and pricing that fits your budget.
